Angels Extend Series With Extra Innings Win

It took a shade over 5 hours to do so, but late last night the Angels of Anaheim were able to break free of the dominance the Red Sox have held over them in the post season and extend the ALDS to a game 4 which will be played tonight at Fenway Park.
This game was played at a slowed down pace and most of Worcester was asleep when the Sox went down quietly in the 12th inning to end the game at 12:48am. Josh Beckett looked not quite himself labouring through 5 innings and giving up 9 hits and 4 earned runs. This game came down to a battle of the bullpens and the relief pitchers for both sides earned their keep pitching a combined 14 scoreless innings before the Angels scraped a run across the plate in the top of the 12th.
The march to the World Series and the disruption of sleep schedules that comes along with it continues tonight as John Lester takes to the hill and attempts to replicate his game one performance and allow the Sox to pop champagne and punch their ticket to the ALCS.
Earlier in the day the Patriots got back to their winning ways defeating the 49’ers in San Francisco by a score of 30-21. Matt Cassel threw for over 200 yards, including a 66 yard bomb to Randy Moss and the ground game ate up another 144 yards and 2 short TD runs from Kevin Faulk. The Patriots will remain on the west coast all week to prepare for a match-up in prime time Sunday night against the San Diego Chargers.
The Red Sox certainly don’t want to drop tonight’s contest and make a trek of their own back to the west coast for a deciding game 5 of the Angels home turf. Is anyone else staying awake to watch these games in their entirety? Are people in your office acting sluggish and drinking extra coffee this morning? Tell us about it in the comments.
