My Week of Excess

Another week of city living has come and gone. The fall foliage is at its peak. The views out the window are breath-taking (unless you happen to be looking directly into the neighbor’s house). I’ve continued to make progress settling in and straightening up. I’ve also continued to enjoy the easy access to many of my favorite places in Worcester.

Being mere minutes from Kelley Square proved just how convenient it is for me to be back in the city. This week alone I was a patron at Jose Murphy’s, the Emerald Isle, Nick’s (on two occasions), Jeffrey Roberts Salon and Spa (again twice), the Dive Bar, and Takara. I also headed a little down the road to check out Mint, which wasn’t technically “open” yet, Coral Seafood, and Vincent’s. I really need to go grocery shopping soon.

A friend from out of town came to visit this past weekend as well. She was pleasantly surprised when we stopped in for a drink and a bite to eat at the Armsby Abbey. It’s amazing that all this is mere minutes away. My new coffee addiction has grown increasingly more aggressive also, thanks to my easy access to the Bean Counter and the Starbucks drive-thru.

This week of excess is topped off by a trip to sunny Miami. As I write this I’m currently in flight just off the shore of South Carolina. My trip aboard American is going smoothly, my only complaint is the $ 15 charge to check my bag, and the fact that Eddie Murphy’s Norbit is the in-flight entertainment.

My early trip to Logan this morning got me thinking about how wonderful it would be if Worcester were to ever get a real, functional airport of their very own. It seems like we’re closer than we have been in years. Of course I’m still not confident this is it, but I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

But what do you think?

What a boring life. Hanging around bars all the time.
Hopefully that’s all what Worcester is about.
