Cycles of Change Presents “PedalFest”

by - October 24, 2008 12:36pm

There are many things that go on here in Worcester that are under the radar, and because of that we here at Real Worcester check out Worcester college websites on an almost daily basis to uncover any hidden gems.

Real Worcester noticed an exciting event going on at the Clark campus today called PedalFest which begins at 3 p.m. and will culminate with a mini bike rally leaving from Red Square at 6 p.m. We contacted the event organizer to see if we could join in the fun and get our bike on with the kids from Clark this evening!

Here is the response from the event organizer:

Cycles of Change is the new bike club forming on Clark’s campus and our goal is to encourage biking as a means of physical exercise, sustainable transportation, connection with the community, and recreation, and to enable and encourage people to be enthusiastic about biking! Our main focus right now is starting up a bike-sharing program on the Clark campus. We are volunteering at Worcester Earn-a-Bike to earn 6 bikes to be made available to all members of the Clark community to rent out for free for a few hours when they want! We hope that this will encourage students, faculty, and staff to get out into the Worcester community around us more, opt for a bike instead of a car, and get excited about bikes as a great form of transportation!

And today we will be jump-starting the excitement on campus by holding an event called PedalFest! PedalFest is a bike rally/celebration being held in Red Square on the Clark campus (the center) and we will have food, music, bike games, bike crafts, free tune-ups from Earn-a-Bike volunteers, and more! The rally will be followed by a bike parade leaving from Red Square at 6 PM. All are welcome to come, bring their bike if they have one, and celebrate bike culture at Clark!

Neil Foisy was born and raised in Fall River, MA and moved to Worcester in 2006 with his girlfriend. In 2007 they became urban pioneers purchasing a loft condo in the Main South area of Worcester which they share with two crazy and adorable cats. He welcomed this opportunity to write about himself in the third person.

But what do you think?

  1. Hey! That’s my bike! Where’s that photo from? That’s totally my bike.
