by - October 31, 2008 6:54am

After being postponed in September, the 3rd Annaul Blackstone CanalFest finally arrives on Saturday, November 1st. The all day event begins at 7 a.m. when volunteers begin to build the 75-foot replica of the Blackstone Canal. The official event runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will include musicians, street performers, dancers, vendors, food concessions, children’s activities, a cash raffle, horse-drawn wagon tours, kayak rides, waterfront seating, and an artist show. The event is taking place right outside the Union Station parking garage, and parking in the garage will be available.

The event is put on by the Canal District Alliance with the Canalfest Committee. The event is free and parking will be discounted. The event benefits the Canal District Alliance, which is working to promote the district and re-create the historic canal down Harding Street from Union Station to Kelley Square.

For the history of the Blackstone Canal, directions to the event, and more details check out the Blackstone CanalFest website.

But what do you think?
