There Was A Line

For the first time in the two decades I’ve been voting at this location, people were waiting in line to vote.
The fellow standing in line behind me said the same thing.
It’s always been a matter of walking right in, no waiting, and being able to vote in less than two minutes. But this morning, for the first time, the round trip from the house and back took well over a half hour. It’s only a couple of blocks away…
Something very special is happening already today. One of the folks in the line said that he hadn’t voted in 16 years. Another person in the line said they had never voted before, and this was definitely not a young person.
As we waited in line, people ahead of us signing in had to move to the side while an election official called the precinct they said they recently moved from. There was more than one. In the past, people would just not bother to vote at all… But not today.
Today, some serious history may well be made, one way or another.
Make sure that you’re a part of it.
