City budget wake-up call

Neither residents, city employees nor the city manager takes any pleasure in knowing that the budget ax is about to bite deeply into Worcester’s municipal budgets. The costs in jobs and core services of closing an expected $20.3 million budget gap in the fiscal year beginning July 1 is likely to be high.
