MY FUNNY VALENTINE A VALENTINE-THEMED ART EXHIBITION AT ROLLSTONE STUDIO
FITCHBURG Rollstone Studios presents a new FREE exhibition, My Funny Valentine, featuring heart- and valentine-shaped art pieces. The exhibition opens on First Thursday, February 5 and will be up through the end of the month. I asked our resident and consignment artists to create a work of art that uses a valentine shape, explains resident artist Sally Cragin who is coordinating the event. I got the idea because my brother Hal Cragin, a musician, was Iggy Pop’s bass player for many years, and during that time convinced Iggy to record some standards, including My Funny Valentine. Iggy’s rendition (which is not yet released) is theatrical and winning, but completely different from his other work. In a similar vein, to use a cardiac pun, I love the idea of non-standard valentines on display at our studio. We will also have Valentine-themed handmade items for sale. Rollstone Studios, 633 Main Street, Fitchburg, opposite the Library. Hours: Thursday 11-2 pm and 4-7 pm, Friday 11-5 pm, Saturday 11-2 pm, Sunday 12-4 pm. Always open every First Thursday of the month from 4 to 8 pm when you can visit artists at work in their studio spaces. rollstonestudio.com.
