I look forward to the Worcester Telegram each morning. I am fortunate that it is delivered every day to me in Fitchburg. We get the North County version and it has a lot of local news, much more than the Fitchburg paper. I start with the headlines on page 1 and and if a story interests me, I read it. At that time, I am drinking my juice and tea and taking my medications. It starts my day and I would feel lost without it. Next, I look at the obituaries, glance at the Central Mass. articles and do the crossword puzzle. Later, I go back and read the articles that interest me and also the editorial pages. I love to read the letters to the Editor to find out what concerns people have. I also yell "stupid idiot"at some of the political columnists like George Will because I never agree with him. We even have columnists that write about Central Mass. I hope we won't lose that. I read the Boston Globe on line, but its not the same.
Karl,it's good that you are giving a heads up on the lack of local new in the Telegram (must be the city edition) I'll keep a watch on my end and if they do that , I will write a Letter to the Editor.

I figured the NYT would be offering the T&G around by this point--looks like it's not as bad as some of us had guessed.

Nice rant from Jeff Jarvis today. This bit sums up part of what I feel, as a lifelong newspaper fan:
. . . you are the proper objects of anger. The public should be angry with you for the poor stewardship you have exercised over the press and its service to society. Your journalists are angry at you for losing their jobs. Your pressmen and drivers and classified-ad takers are angry at you for the same reason (and at the journalists for paying attention only to their own plight). Your advertisers were angry at you for using your monopolistic power to overcharge them and for providing inefficient platforms and bad service for so long. But they’re not angry anymore because they left you for better advertising vehicles and better prices in a competitive marketplace.

But you’re the ones who are acting angry.
