Holocaust scholar elicits comments

The newspaper ran a story about a scholar who characterized Pope Benedict’s recent action to move forward the cause for canonization of Pope Pius XII as “an affront to Jews everywhere” (“Holocaust expert at Clark blasts action on Pius,” Telegram & Gazette, Jan. 5). Really? Can it be an affront to Rabbi David Dalin, who, in his book, “The Myth of Hitler’s Pope” (2005), has written about how Pius XII rescued Jews from the Nazis? Would it be an affront to those Jew
