Senator Brown

Scott Brown’s victory in yesterday’s special Senate election – an outcome that just a month ago seemed so remote as to be practically impossible in true-blue Massachusetts – has given the Republican party the critical 41st vote it needs to block a major health care reform law on Capitol Hill, and perhaps much else on President Obama’s ambitious agenda. But it will not be sufficient for Mr. Brown and the Republican party merely to play the role of spoiler.
