State seeks waiver from ‘No Child’ mandates

MALDEN – Members of the state Board of Elementary and Secondary Education voted yesterday to ask for a waiver from some aspects of the federal No Child Left Behind Act, the federal law that has identified 90 percent of this state’s school districts as failing even as the state scores at the top of the nation by other education measures.
