I’m thinking about getting a bunch of dirt to level off part of my yard; let’s say four or five cubic yards. What exactly do I need to order if I want to shovel it into a pile and put grass seed on top? Loam, dirt, fill, topsoil, a combination of those, or something else entirely? How much would something like this cost, roughly? Anyone have a local Dirt Guy who’s done well by you in the past?

thanks!

One of New Orleans’ premier tenor saxophonists and flautists, Amadee Castenel has been nurtured by 40 years of playing in the rich multi-layered music scene of New Orleans. From 1973- 1983 he was musical director of the band Chocolate Milk, writing and performing on their 8 albums for RCA Records. He has… also been an… important member of the award winning, legendary musical genius Allen Toussaint Orchestra. When not touring, he is a much seasoned and in demand studio musician. Amadee has recorded with such legendary artists as Dr. John (Grammy award winning “Going Back to New Orleans”), Robbie Robertson (“Storyville”), Lee Dorsey (“Night People”), and Neville Bros. (“Fire on the Bayou”) to name just a few. From Etta James to Idris Mohammed, Fats Domino, and Albert King all have loved the tasteful phrasing of his sultry soulful saxophone. This consummate journeyman, shaped by the hot voodoo rhythms and Mardi Gras energy of Southern Louisiana, and with 2 albums under his own name on the Nyno Records label, has come to center stage a second time in collaboration with Dave Osoff on “Mosaic”. He also appears on the current HBO TV series “Treme” performing with Elvis Costello, Allen Toussaint, Irma Thomas, Aaron Neville, and Lloyd Price.

Amadee is in the pic playing live at last years Paulie’s NOLA Jazz & Blues Festival in Worcester, MA

He is returning in 2010… http://baevents.com/pauliesnolabluesandjazzfestival/index.html

Just want to toss a plug up here for Spitjack a BBQ supply place I just found yesterday. I went in to get lump charcoal and ended up spending 20 mins walking around drooling over all the products they have! Their prices were awesome! I expect to pay a little more when buying local, which I’m willing to do for good service and product. However the charcoal I bought was less then I usually pay for a smaller bag and I have to travel to Uxbridge! I also picked up some great mesquite wood chunks, which the owner Bruce knocked $2 off without asking because he said it looked short, and a small bamboo steamer. (I’ve always wanted one)

Over all it was a great experience, and thanks to SpitJack and Fairway Beef the BBQ tomorrow will be 100% locally supplied!!

They are located in the same building as Tripi’s Uniforms on Rt. 9. Take a right off Rt. 9 and you will see the sign at the back end of the building. http://www.spitjack.com/ is the website!
